The Fair

I got a chance this weekend to meet Eric's parents at the fair with Gabe. He was so cute and he had a blast. We saw animals, had some corn on the cob, and his favorite, sit on the tractors! You would have thought he went to heaven. He just kept moving the steering wheel and playing with all the levers. It was so hard to get him off of them. He also rode the carousel with Grandpa. He smiled the whole time. Afterward a lady came to me and said how cute he was and how you could tell he loved it. I did have a scare though. We were sitting in the Pioneer Farm area which is for kids to play with Pioneer stuff. We were sitting there and eating our corn on the cob. Gabe would take a bite and walk around a bit but no more than 3 feet from me and Eric's dad was standing next to him. A couple walked by and asked where we got the corn and we pointed to the area. I looked back and Gabe was gone! I said, "Where did he go?" Luckily a guy standing right next to us told me he was right behind him. Sure enough he was on his way out of there. He was right in the little gateway about to go into the sea of people. It was so fast! Seriously, 2 seconds. I've decided to get one of those leash things. His cousin has one and it's actually kind of cute. It's a little doggy backpack. Pre-kids I thought those things were weird but now at least I'll know nowone is stealing him.

Next Poll

O.k. so we are putting up the poll for girl names now. We are more sure of what we like with this one. I won't say what it is until after the poll though. I also want to tell Tony to stop telling my husband that he isn't a man unless he gets our child named Maximus. Love ya all and hope you are all doing well.

Name Poll

Hey everyone. Just in case you didn't notice, we put a poll up to see what name people preferred for a boy. Next week, I'll put one up for a girl. Eric insisted on putting Maximus in there just because he thinks it will prove it is a cool name. We are really debating between Grady and Ian. We like Grady but not necessarily with Gabe. We are afraid people will ask us if we are going with a G theme, which we are not. We also like Ian, especially the meaning which is God's grace/God is gracious/God's gracious gift. I've seen all three of those meanings depending one what website you are on. I'm not going to guarantee that the winner will be the name though. I'm excited to see what people think.

Nothing exciting

I wish I had some excuse for not writing for so long, but I don't. The first part of the week Eric took a couple of days off to work on the kitchen. We didn't get nearly enough done. The paint that we are using for the cabinets is oil based and takes forever to dry and everything needs two coats. Plus, Gabe won't let us just work without screaming and wanting to get into the paint so only one of us can work at a time while the other plays with him. We also bought a few gallons of paint to change the color of our kitchen and living room. Of course we got it home and hate it. Both Gabe and I have had a cold too so I haven't had much energy. Sorry.
I also wish I had something exciting to say, but, again, I don't. The camp has been taken over by gnats! I guess it happens sometimes at the end of blackberry season. They are all over. Because we had all the doors open when we were painting, they are now in my house. I know they will eventually go away, but it is driving me insane. I wish they would die already! O.k. now Eric is making fun of me for what I am writing about. He said there are some ants outside I could write about too.

Touchdown!

We are so excited for football season! I don't usually get like this but it's become a family affair as you can see. The jersey was one of my anniversary presents by the way. Eric went last Sunday and found each of our jerseys and then made us put them on for a preseason game. He was so cute. Last year we taught Gabe to lift his arms in the touchdown sign when we said touchdown so my brother took a pic. of all of us making the sign. Because I am only using one arm Eric said I remind him of the one-armed ref who use to ref for football and basketball. I said it was at Trinity but he says it was at DMCS. So, we need some help in remembering this detail. Where was the one-armed ref? He was an older guy and was a little overweight. It's been bothering me. Anyway, Go Seahawks! Oh and I should say that Eric also got me a gift cert. for a pedi. as another anniversary gift.

Blessed

I took this picture the other morning. I was up early (as usual) and I looked out our sliding glass door. Can you believe this is where I live? I look at other houses on the lake and they are beautiful and very expensive. We're not rich! We're not supposed to live here. But we do! I am so blessed. I have a great family, a beautiful place to live, and a job I enjoy. God hasn't just forgiven me and delivered me but he has blessed me so greatly! Just wanted to share this with ya'll that haven't been here. Don't you just want to get out your fishing pole Jen???? Hint Hint.

Birthday Cake and Bee Stings

I'm just sitting here enjoying a nice piece of left over chocolate birthday cake and a glass of milk. Gabe is in bed and I am getting ready to watch my Sunday night show. Life is good. Eric's birthday went well. We went to his parents so that he could get away and not feel like he is at work. Gabe always loves going there and playing on the tractor and chasing the dogs. The big news is that he got his first bee sting while we were there. It took us a while to figure out what happened. I knew that he was hurt by his cry and he was playing with his hand but when we looked we couldn't see anything. Then it started to swell a little. Both Eric and his mom went to where he was standing and didn't see anything. We first thought bee sting but we were inside and Gabe kept pointing to the door and crying. When I couldn't find anything on his hand like a bite or cut we thought maybe he wanted outside, but that didn't stop the crying. Finally, Eric's sister found the bee sitting on the edge between the door and the glass. By this time it had been about 10 minutes so we knew he wasn't allergic. Neither Eric nor I are allergic so we weren't too worried anyway. Cake soothed him for about a minute but I think I ended up with more on me because I was holding him. Then we tried putting baking soda and water on his hand and that ended up getting all over me including in my mouth! Nothing was helping the crying though until we let him play with cold water first under the faucet and then put his hand in a cup of cold water. He thought that was pretty cool so that helped. Then we gave him a little baby benadryl to help the swelling. This morning he woke up and you couldn't even tell what finger it was.
Well nothing else big to report, which is nice. My mom went back to court on Fri. and from what I know she was taken into custody. I guess she can't have any outside contact for a month. I haven't gotten any phone calls though saying that she didn't go. I talked to her right before and she was bawling. I feel bad for her yet relieved at the same time that it is finally over. Well, love ya all. Now it's time for some ice cream while I watch Design Star. I dont' know if any of you watch it but I'm rooting for Will.
