Birthday Cake and Bee Stings

I'm just sitting here enjoying a nice piece of left over chocolate birthday cake and a glass of milk. Gabe is in bed and I am getting ready to watch my Sunday night show. Life is good. Eric's birthday went well. We went to his parents so that he could get away and not feel like he is at work. Gabe always loves going there and playing on the tractor and chasing the dogs. The big news is that he got his first bee sting while we were there. It took us a while to figure out what happened. I knew that he was hurt by his cry and he was playing with his hand but when we looked we couldn't see anything. Then it started to swell a little. Both Eric and his mom went to where he was standing and didn't see anything. We first thought bee sting but we were inside and Gabe kept pointing to the door and crying. When I couldn't find anything on his hand like a bite or cut we thought maybe he wanted outside, but that didn't stop the crying. Finally, Eric's sister found the bee sitting on the edge between the door and the glass. By this time it had been about 10 minutes so we knew he wasn't allergic. Neither Eric nor I are allergic so we weren't too worried anyway. Cake soothed him for about a minute but I think I ended up with more on me because I was holding him. Then we tried putting baking soda and water on his hand and that ended up getting all over me including in my mouth! Nothing was helping the crying though until we let him play with cold water first under the faucet and then put his hand in a cup of cold water. He thought that was pretty cool so that helped. Then we gave him a little baby benadryl to help the swelling. This morning he woke up and you couldn't even tell what finger it was.
Well nothing else big to report, which is nice. My mom went back to court on Fri. and from what I know she was taken into custody. I guess she can't have any outside contact for a month. I haven't gotten any phone calls though saying that she didn't go. I talked to her right before and she was bawling. I feel bad for her yet relieved at the same time that it is finally over. Well, love ya all. Now it's time for some ice cream while I watch Design Star. I dont' know if any of you watch it but I'm rooting for Will.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OPIE!!!

Sorry to hear about Gabe's bee sting. My brother and I were just talking about how it happens to kids sooner or later! Good to know he is not allergic :)

Well, I am glad that things are looking up for you. Sorry about the bee sting. I am waiting for the day when it happens to mine. Tony is allergic but I am not, so we will see. He is deathly allergic but where they bite him swells pretty good. How is the pregnancy going? Are you feeling any better?

My dad says to rub mud on it - he swears by it. I remember when I was younger he got stung on the forehead taking down a nest and so he walked around with a blob of mud on his forehead until it dried. (shrug)

Ha! That's funny. Gabe probably would have loved that! The preg. is going well. I get weak still but the dr. said it sounds like I'm dehydrated because my blood pressure is also low. Apparently, they are related.
